Example of: Community-Led Activation, Town Team Community Building and Public Engagement

Town Team Movement was engaged by the City of Canning to engage with the local residents, community groups and businesses to participate in developing a citizen-led street party to activate the local centre.
One workshop with businesses was undertaken to plan a community block party and included exercises to motivate, empower and inspire community members. This included a visioning exercise, understanding the resources and skills available in the community, presenting case studies of other town team-led projects, how to guides and design thinking exercises to plan the logistics of the event.
The street party event included local musicians, tasting plates, giant board games and a chill out zone. TTM also used the event as a tool to facilitate an engagement workshop to prioritise actions in the community, drive further community participation and develop a proposition for the town centre.
A final workshop was organised to bring together the active community members and determine the most appropriate actions to move forward, including who would be accountable.
