ANNOUNCING – GLOBAL PORCH PLACEMAKING WEEK 30 MAY – 5 JUNE 2020 – AND WE WOULD LOVE YOU TO TAKE PART!
While we have been physically distant, Australians have found innovative ways to stay connected. With rainbows, teddy bears, driveway dinners, apartment concerts and much more! Whilst for many cities around the world, Porch Placemaking Week will be their only way to stay connected, in Australia it’s a chance to celebrate how we changed the way we connected during Covid19 and to consider how we might continue to connect in the future.
Porch placemaking is about taking action and bringing people together with simple activities on balconies, in front yards, driveways and porches.
WILL YOU JOIN US IN CELEBRATING GLOBAL PORCH PLACEMAKING WEEK?
We are hoping to show the world how we have stayed connected by creating small activations across Australasia. How could you activate your pocket of the world? Here are a few ideas:
- Bring all your backyard activities to the front yard so kids can play together
- Music performance from front yard or balcony
- Chalk art competition
- Verge planting session
- Verge yoga or other exercise
- Outdoor mini movie
- Driveway dinner
- What else could you do? Let us know!
Let’s Map It
Once you have decided what you want to do, lets show the world by adding it to the porch placemaking map at porchplacemaking.com and share our initiatives with the world.
Before Event Day
Tell your neighbours, get them involved, how can they contribute?
Here is an invite template: template – you can personalise to suit you!
