A new public space made by young locals for the whole community to enjoy,
powered by RAC, Town Team Movement, the Town of Mosman Park, and Better Block Foundation
Town Team Movement worked with RAC’s Community Engagement Team and the Better Block Foundation, based in Dallas, Texas, to deliver Australia’s first Better Block.
This was a collaborative project working with young locals aged 16-24 to reimagine the public space near the Alf Adams Pavilion, Mosman Park. It used the placemaking mindset and process to turn an under-used park into a vibrant place where everyone can connect and enjoy.
Over 30 young people contributed to the transformation of the spaces, which included a skate park, basketball court, cricket nets and a playground. The young people workshopped ways in making these areas not only more comfortable and interesting, but also more accessible for people to use.
The project is one of four pilots RAC has delivered to give young people opportunities to lead positive change in their communities and help them engage with them around its vision for a safer, sustainable and connected Western Australia.
